Art Buffet Kids Craft Station

I’m always in search of fun and exciting ways to encourage my kiddos to be creative.  One of the easiest ways I’ve found to engage them creatively is to move their art supplies to non- traditional spaces.  We might sculpt in the kitchen or paint in the bathtub. Just being in a fresh environment brings on such creativity.

Recently I set up this art buffet kids craft station in our back yard.  Instead of an array of foods, I set up a feast for my artists!  The environment wasn’t necessarily unique, but having access to all our materials outside brought out a newfound passion.  My girls spent an entire evening just making and creating.  Clean up was the only hard part, but it was totally worth it to have such a spread!

Here’s what I included on our buffet table:

  • A base for their creations: foam sheets, construction paper, felt
  • Lots of color options: paint, markers, our favorite beeswax crayons
  • Adhesives: glue and tape
  • Tons of fun dazzle:  glitter, pom poms, bright tissue squares, colorful office stickers
  • Scissors and punches

So next time your kids need a creative boost, try an art buffet!!!  It could be a mini buffet in a far away location or huge spread on your kitchen counter! HAVE FUN!
